Creating your very own “.com” website is quite easy & also simple to do.
Websites Created Per Day
The first thing you need to do is figure out what your “.com” website is going to be.
Our .com, or domain name, or even called URL, is HowtoCreateaWebsiteOnline.comand we had to pay for it. We had to buy the URL name and then buy hosting for it which we will get into later in this article.
Ok, so you need to come up with a .com name of your own that isn’t already taken.
Every single hosting company I know has some sort of feature included that let’s you type in the URL name that you want and then see if it is still available.
Unfortunately, it is already the year 2016 and millions of .com names have been taken already.
Don’t worry, their are still plenty of names to chose from if you add a little creativity.
Make sure your .com is related to what you are going to be talking about or else it won’t make much sense and the search engines might hinder your SEO ranking because of it.
If their is a domain name that you really want but it’s taken, go to that website and see if anything even exists on there. Unfortunately, their is a market for people just buying .com names and then trying to make money off them.
Like I said, if you desperately want that specific .com name you might be able to contact the person who owns it and buy it off them but expect to be a hefty price.
Once you found the “.com” name that you want and it’s available then your going to want to find a company to buy the domain name from and to host your website.
We suggest that you buy the .com name with the same company your hosting with because you will most likely get a better deal and you will have an easier time during the initial set up.
Let’s group everything we just mentioned in a set of steps to make it easier for you.
CREATE A .COM WEBSITE – STEP 1
Figure out your Domain Name or your “.com” name and check to see if it’s available.
Your URL is going to be something like “http://www.MyBusinessWebsite.com”, obviously your own URL will be your specific Domain, that is just an example.
Try to keep your URL name precise and make sure it’s related to your specific business or topic you will be discussing. It would make absolutely no sense to call this website “Dog Walking Advice” when we are not teaching you anything to do with dogs but how to create a website online.
Thus, we are the URL you see in your browser for a reason. Remember, don’t worry if the specific URL you want is taken, theirs a good chance it will be. Unless you desperately want to buy that URL off the owner, then try and be creative in your decision process.
Find a domain name that actually represents what you are doing.
Make things easy by registering your domain name with your hosting company.
CREATE A .COM WEBSITE – STEP 2
Register your domain name with the same company you are hosting with.
Chances are, you are new to this owning your own website deal and this is the most cost efficient and simplistic way of doing things for a beginner and for someone who is an expert for that matter.
Their is one company that we recommend which would be BlueHost (Clicking on the link will bring you to a step by step tutorial on creating a .com name with them).
During this process they will offer you privacy settings and we highly recommend that you pay for it.
It usually is just a little bit more extra but it keeps all your information private. Without this checked off, people can find out your Name, Address, Email, and Phone number.
Unless you don’t mind people knowing everything about you, we highly suggest you purchase the privacy plan. On a side note, some hosting companies will offer you a bunch of extra options to purchase.
Most of these can also be purchased later so we suggest you don’t pay for anything extra at this point in time. Companies like GoDaddy are notorious for this so be aware.
CREATE A .COM WEBSITE – STEP 3 (OPTIONAL)
If you have purchased a domain name separate from your hosting company you will need to connect both of these.
You will be emailed all your information and what you need to look for is your DNS Settings. Make sure you set the .com DNS Settings to your hosting company.
If you purchase the URL name with your hosting company then you can skip this step.
Well there you have it, creating a .com website isn’t that hard after all. It’s become much easier to do in this day and age and it will continue to just become easier and easier. Thank You for reading this article and we hope it helps you in your quest to create a .com website.
